A Note From Pope John Paul II: Mary and the Liturgical Action

Saint Pope John Paul II

Mary and the Liturgical Action

Mary is present in the memorial . . .

. . . the Liturgical Action . . . because she was present at the saving event.

She is at every baptismal font, where in faith and in the Holy Spirit the members of the Mystical Body are born into divine life. Because, with faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, she conceived its Head, Christ.

She is at every altar, when the memorial of the Passion and Resurrection is celebrated, because she was present, faithful with her whole being to the Father’s plan, at the historic salvific occasion of Christ’s death.

She is in every upper room, where the imposition of hands and holy anointing of the Spirit is given to the faithful, because with Peter and the other Apostles, with the newborn Church, she was present with the inpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.
