The Lord Freely Gives Up His Life: Understand the Implications

The Lord Freely Gives Up His Life: Understand the Implications

Freedom can actually be a terrible thing!

Strange to say! How freedom is used has consequences. We see this in today’s Gospel and through Holy Week. The Lord will freely lay down His life. It is a freedom to obey a will other than one’s own. We don’t often connect freedom with obedience. The Homily explores this further.

Judas also freely goes and asks the religious leaders to hand over Jesus. He freely enters into a bargain to hand Him over.

The Lord embraces the moment. He is aware of what will happen and who will betray Him. Not to save His own life will the Lord prevent someone’s freedom to act.

The Lord gives Himself to Us and For Us.
