The Lord Gives Us a Way for Eternal Life

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

The Lord Gives Us a Way for Eternal Life

In the first reading (not included within this media set), we hear the prophet say:

“More tortuous than all is the Human Heart. Who can understand it?”

We likely agree with the statement, but it is often something we do not like to admit. We often fool ourselves into thinking we really know ourselves. We believe we know how the world works. Reality says something different. From the experience of the divine toward man, nothing is more tortuous than the Human Heart.

Cursed is that one who trust in men. That is how scripture starts. Cursed is the one who places his confidence in the flesh. Note how absolute that statement is!

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord! Trust is not easy! Because it is not easy, we often reach for easy things. Why? Because we often fear to trust more greatly . . . more deeply. Hear more within the Homily.

The Lord gives us a way to live life. Understand the implications for our Spiritual Life.
