On This Christmas Day, God Exceeds the World’s Expectations!

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

On This Christmas Day, God Exceeds the World’s Expectations!

In ages past, God spoke to the world through prophets.

With the Lord’s birth, the Word is given to us directly through Jesus! To us, God no longer speaks through the prophets, because He speaks to us through His Son.

God exceeds the world’s expectations. God is pleased to make a home in a stable, in our poverty, in our need. It is in our need where He will come to meet us. That is remarkable! Listen to the Homily to hear more.

I am as near to you . . . in your need. In times past the prophet does not know what we know. He came into our world and our lives as one who first gave us life. God made us. He made our being. He draws even closer . . . to save us.

The joy that the God who made the world . . . enters into this world. The entire world is changed by what we celebrate today. The one who made the world and everything in it . . . has entered the world! Why did He enter it? To be with you! To be with all of us!

Rejoice . . . and hold on to this Joy!
