I Will Raise Him Up on the Last Day! What Does That Mean For Us?

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

I Will Raise Him Up on the Last Day! What Does That Mean For Us?

How can I understand if no one instructs me?

In the first reading (not included within this audio) we hear this statement in reference to the scriptures. We do not hear that one completely understands the scripture. Furthermore, we do not hear that I will interpret the scripture according to my understanding and knowledge! We hear the statement above. Understand the context of this statement and its importance to us . . . within the Homily.

The Church has the proclamation of the Gospel and scripture within the context of Mass. Why? Because we all need to be instructed in the words of God. We all must learn how to submit our minds to the will of God. It is Christ that makes all scripture clear. Hear more within the Homily.

In today’s Gospel we hear an amazing statement by Jesus. No one can come to Me (Jesus) unless the Father Who sent Me draws him to Me. And I will raise him up on the last day.

What does that mean? Jesus tells us He will give to us eternal life. Jesus speaks of His upcoming Resurrection.
