The Church’s Message When We Kneel at the Time the Lord Gives Up His Spirit!

When We Kneel at the Time the Lord Gives Up His Spirit

O ne of the miraculous moments of all of Holy Week, just happened during the Gospel reading.

During the reading of the Lord’s Passion (not included within this audio), there are many details presented. However, during the reading there is a moment when the simple statement of the Lord giving up His Spirit is read. We then kneel. Whatever I missed or not focused on, up to that time, suddenly, for a moment, everything is different.

We kneel. There is an immediate response that the Church makes. The entire body of Christ falls to its knees. We are not reading history. The Church recognizes that we are all in the presence of something much greater than ourselves. And we respond. We make ourselves low before the mystery that is so very great. During those few minutes on our knees, we all recognize that there is something unspeakably great and compelling here during this moment. It prepares us for the remainder of Holy Week.

As the Lord gives up His Spirit, we hear that the world itself responds to this moment. The earth trembles. The dead hears and reacts.  And the sun came out and shines. At the time of death, light returns to the sky. Hear more within this approximately twelve-minute Homily.

Understand the full significance for each of us at this point within the Passion. Listen to When We Kneel at the Time the Lord Gives Up His Spirit. Listen to this Mediation Media on Palm Sunday.
