The Chosen People Have a Special Place in God’s Heart

W hen we attend Church, we do so because we are the people of God. That is what today’s scripture readings tells us. To belong to the Lord, means something. We want to make sure we get that right.

Moses speaking to the people addresses them right before the series of movements on entering the promise land. After forty years, their journey in the dessert is coming to an end.  They are about to cross the Jordan River, the place they have been seeking and promised . . . the promise land.

Moses speaks to the people before crossing the river. Let’s be clear on what we are about and what we need to do when we cross the river. Who are we? We are His people. We are His chosen people. Moses tells the people they have a special place in the heart of the Lord.
