Christmas . . . a Day That Changes All Things and All Hearts

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

Christmas . . . a Day That Changes All Things and All Hearts

C hristmas, on one hand, comes every year. We celebrate with our customs and traditions.

Christmas is so familiar within our mind that we risk it becoming ordinary . . . becoming common place of things that we do.

Yet when we pause, we may see something about this mystery, that defeats our ability to reduce it to the familiar. The reason why it comes once a year is because it is great. It is not because it is on the calendar. It is on the calendar because it so great.

Hear why! Hear why Christmas is a Day That Changes All Things and All Hearts. Don’t settle for the trivial. Do not settle for the ordinary. Don’t settle and treat this day as a day we simply get together as a family. Understand why this day is so great! Understand what it is that the Son brings to us today. Listen to the greatness of this mystery.
