How Do We Know Who Gets Into Heaven?

How Do We Know Who Gets Into Heaven?

The  readings over the weekdays, and Sundays, of the Advent season are connected and deliberately chosen by the Church.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us, not everybody who looks at Him and says Lord, will enter into Heaven. This cuts across the grain of a shallow Christianity; one that says once you call Jesus Lord that you’re good and will go to Heaven. Jesus tells us . . . not so fast!

There is a way of saying . . . Jesus, You are the Lord . . . which is empty and false, and actually shuts one out of Heaven. On my! Contrary to this. There is a way of turning to Jesus and saying . . . Lord . . . which is life giving, and allows one entry into Heaven. Hear more, directly from Jesus!

How do We Know Who Gets into Heaven . . . and Who Doesn’t?

If that is the case, How do We Know Who Gets into Heaven . . . and Who Doesn’t? The Lord tells us. He shifts His imagery in the Gospel to a house built on sand and a house built on rock.

The one who listens to the words of mine, and acts upon them, is like one who builds a house upon rock.
