The Roles of Angels in the Coming of Christ Into the World

The Roles of Angels in the Coming of Christ Into the World

What   was The Role Played by the Angels in the Coming of Christ into the World?

As we celebrate angels, have you ever meditated on that topic? When we concentrate on how angels are involved within sacred scripture, when we understand them, our reading and our meditation becomes different.

A classic example is the angel that comes to bring comfort to the Lord during the Agony in the Garden (see this beautiful painting here).  One angel out of many angels takes on this great mission. When we meditate on it, we understand how great a moment this really is in scripture. Our appreciation for this moment in the life of Christ becomes deeper and fuller.

The Lord Tells Us About the Angels During at His Second Coming

The Lord refers to angels a number of times when He preaches. When Our Lord preaches about His Second Coming, the Lord will be surrounded by angels. When He speaks of the time when everything is brought to completion, He speaks of the angels going out and gathering. During the time of the Final Judgement, the angels are also present. Hear more about the angels and the Second Coming.

Our Guardian Angel

Between now and then, the Lord speaks of the angels in a different way. He speaks of their care of the fragile, the weak, and the vulnerable. The Lord tells us that we need to make sure we do not bring the little ones to harm or to sin. He tells us that their guardian angel stands before the face of God.

Meditate on that. Our guardian angel, who watch over the little ones, the weak, and the frail readily stands before the face of God! Wow! What an image! Hear more in this media.

Guardian angels watch over us individually. You and I have a guardian angel! How do we know this? In several areas, but the audio cites passages from Psalm 91. Do you remember the Guardian Angel prayer? The prayer is unpacked as to its meaning within the audio. Listen to the prayer and the Psalm about angels.

The Choirs of Angels are Briefly Discussed

Understanding each of the nine levels of angels is not as important as to understand their function or the nine different ways they are involved. In another conference this was discussed and is briefly recapped here.

The first tier of angels

  • The first choir: the Angel. Angel means messenger. The ordinary messenger has an ordinary way of caring for us. Listen to more.
  • For a weightier message, there is the Archangel. These are angels as well, but a bit higher. These are entrusted with something weightier.
  • The Principalities are the angels that, under the direction of the Dominions, directly watch over large groups and institutions, including nations and the Church.

The second and third tiers of angels. Listen to the audio as each angel type in the other two tiers are listed: The Virtues, The Power, The Dominions, The Seraphim, The Cherubim and The Thrones.

Why is knowing the above important? The spiritual masters talk of the nine ways of service to the Lord that come to us through the angels. Listen to hear more.

When Jesus rises on Easter morning, we see the empty tomb, with two angels. When Jesus ascends to Heaven, an angel speaks to the Apostles. What is that significance? Hear more within the media.

Listen to this conference on The Role of Angels throughout the life of Jesus on earth, and during His Second Coming. Consider how Angels appear within the scripture passages, and how the angels impact our lives. Imagine the voices of all the angels praising God. Imagine the greatness of God who created the angels. Listen to this Meditation Media.

Q&A Session

A Q&A discussion occurs at the end of the audio.  While you hear the response, you might not hear the actual question. They appear below.

  1. What about the other Archangels? What about the Archangel Uriel? What does the Church tells us of the Archangels?
  2. Lucifer means Morning Star. He was originally a beautiful angel, and an angel of light. How does this relate to the Prince of Darkness?
  3. God’s love entrusts me to a specific angel. Do we each have a guardian angel?
  4. Do angels actually appear to us . . . and if so, when? (In answering this question, the audio references this painting by Tanner. See the picture on this website’s page. A second painting is also reference. Again, see the picture on this website page).
  5. Do we know the name of the angel that came to console Jesus in the Agony in the Garden?
  6. Does St. Paul mention the angel types Power and Principalities? Can you provide some additional context?

The Annunciation: African America Painter: Henry Ossawa Tanner: 1898

The Q&A (#5) session references these two paintings.
