We Can All be Blessed and Touched by Our Lord and be Filled with Grace

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

We Can All be Blessed and Touched . . .

In  the first reading (not included within this audio) we hear from Our Lord through the prophet Ezekiel, that often is a source of struggle for the human heart. The Lord says none of you are merely a victim of circumstances (either good circumstances, or bad).

We all realize there are those that are born into this world with certain advantages, and some are born with certain disadvantages. The emphasis the Lord makes through His prophet, the evil done in your household before you . . . does NOT determine your destiny. Your destiny is also not determined by the good that was done in your household before you were born!

Through the advantages and / or disadvantages you receive, there is a capacity for goodness! There is no set of circumstances so terrible that there is no possibility to reach for goodness.

There is No Set of Circumstances so Terrible that There is No Possibility to Reach For Goodness

This is bold statement . . . for the people in the ancient world . . . as it is today! Circumstances, says the Lord, are not determined by the wickedness of parents. People used to think that way. But the Lord says . . . No!

Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. But in the end, the choices that we make . . . are our choices. The Lord says, we all have a gift. We all can seek good or choose not to seek good. Listen to more within the Homily.

The Lord is not interested in hearing people say . . . if I only had the advantages that others have been given . . . I would be better. No that is not what the Lord is interested in hearing. The Lord tells we all can be better with the advantages we have to bear. This is important to understand. Hear more in the Homily.

The Lord tells us there is a freedom and greatness about every heart. There is a freedom and greatness about every person. The choices we make while we live . . . reach towards eternity. Hear more in the Homily.

In today’s Gospel, families bring their children to be with and see the Lord, so that He can bless them. Within our circumstances we can all belong to Our Lord. We can all be blessed and touched by Our Lord and be filled with grace. Listen to this Gospel again, in light of this Homily.
