What Does Jesus Think . . . of Motherhood?

What Does Jesus Think . . . of Motherhood?

This  is the fourth Sunday of Easter.

It is a day that the Church reminds us the victory of the Resurrection is not only a victory for Jesus, but a victory that involves us! Why this day is special and what it means within the Church is briefly discussed.

During the Homily a different view of the Good Shepherd is discussed referring to an icon. The icon appears at the right. Examine it while the homily refers to the icon.

What Does Jesus Think . . . of Motherhood?

The Church doesn’t directly celebrate Mother’s Day, but we do! Curiously, there is no one that celebrates Motherhood greater than Jesus. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, comes into this world by preparing for Himself . . . a perfect mother! Obviously, we all love our mothers. But there is something that is not thought of enough by Christians.

There is something marvelous about motherhood that the Word of God was pleased to experience it Himself. Think about that statement. God, the Creator of Man, was pleased to experience motherhood. There can be no greater statement about the dignity of motherhood than that.
