The Baptism of the Lord: This is My Beloved Son . . .

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

The Baptism of the Lord

On this day the world has already set aside Christmas.

Though in the Church, it is the last day of the Christmas Season! It is also the day the church celebrates the Baptism of the Lord. This season began with celebrating the Nativity. Later we celebrated the appearance of the star in the sky and the Magi. Today we gaze on Our Lord as the adult Jesus on the day of His Baptism.

During the Christmas Season, we celebrate Our Lord and adore Him. Hear how this celebration fits into the Christmas Season. How does the Lord’s Baptism fit into this season? Hear more within the Homily!

On this day, the world is introduced for the first time to the Blessed Trinity. Up until this time, only Our Lady knew of the Blessed Trinity. However, on this day, the world hears the Father and sees the Holy Spirit. Listen to this Meditation Media on the impact of the Blessed Trinity within this Mystery.
