The Lord Knocks On the Human Heart

Today’s  Gospel, Jesus says, Father will be against Son, Mother will be against Daughter, . . . etc.

There are some passages in scripture, that are very difficult. Today’s Gospel is difficult. What does Jesus mean in today’s reading by what He said? What is Jesus saying with this division?

In today’s first reading (not contained within this audio), St. Paul says everything is rubbish . . . so that I will be better able to possess Jesus. What does St. Paul mean?

Jesus is not talking about the destruction of the family. Jesus says He has not come to bring peace to the earth. Listen to this Mediation Piece that discusses what Jesus means in the Gospel. The Homily also explores St. Paul’s message.

The Lord knocks on everyone’s heart.  It is up to each to decide whether to open this door.  Notice, on purpose, there is no door handle.  It must be opened from the inside.
