God’s Guarantee and Promise to All of Us!

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

God’s Guarantee

In today’s Gospel, there is a mysterious statement, than can be quickly overlooked. However, it is vitally important for us to appreciate the meaning of the statement. When the Lord promised Abraham, the Lord swore by Himself to keep the promise. He could not swear to a greater authority then Himself!

So what does that really mean? The issue is the guarantee of God’s promise to Abraham, the guarantee of our hope. Our hope is not a day dream or wishful thinking. We are asked to invest our selves … our hearts … as Abraham did in something that is unshakable reliable.

Man makes a guarantee by swearing to an authority that is greater than he. However, the Lord desires man to have confidence in His Word, and His guarantee. The Lord says “this is how certain my promise is to you”. I swear by My very Self, says the Lord. This is the guarantee.

Blessings and salvation will be yours, says the Lord! And I testify by my very Self to this … Hear more about the Lord’s promise to all of us! Listen to God’s Guarantee and Promise to All of Us! Hear God’s Covenant for Salvation to Us in this Meditation Media.
