Calvary: On the grounds of The Shrine of Our Lady of the Island

Dear friends, let us quiver with joy,
We have Mount Calvary here;
Let's hurry, love impels us,
To see Jesus Christ, dead for us.

St. Louis de MontfortHymn #137: New Hymn in Honor of Calvary: Verse #1

Here we see God, who loses His life
At the hands of ungrateful traitors,
Here, we see His Glory overwhelmed
And crushed between two thieves.

St. Louis de MontfortHymn #137: New Hymn in Honor of Calvary: Verse #3

Let us then love this kind Savior,
So pierced, all torn by blows,
Let us adore His adorable Cross
and kiss Hiss feet and the nails.

St. Louis de MontfortHymn #137: New Hymn in Honor of Calvary: Verse #12

Afflicted soul, here is your refuge;
Penitents, this is your proper place;
Poor people, this is your home;
Here one becomes rich in God.

St. Louis de MontfortHymn #137: New Hymn in Honor of Calvary: Verse #16

Let us leave our hearts and offerings here,
Let us embrace the cross joyfully,
To reap the benefit of our pleas,
To rise from this Calvary to Heaven.

Amen

For those that attend daily Mass, a special note for each Friday during the Lenten Season. A special gift of a Plenary Indulgence is granted to the faithful during each Friday of Lent and Passiontide, who after Holy Communion piously recite this prayer before an image of Christ crucified (the additional normal conditions apply. See this link for more information). Listen to the two minute audio below to learn more.

Behold, O Good and Most Sweet Jesus,

I Fall Upon My Knees Before Thee,

And With Most Fervent Desire Beg and Beseech Thee

That Thou Wouldst Impress Upon My Heart

A Lively Sense of Faith, Hope and Charity,

True Repentance For My Sins,

And a Firm Resolve to Make Amends.

And With Deep Affection and Grief,

I Reflect Upon Thy Five Wounds,

Having Before My Eyes That Which

Thy Prophet David Spoke About Thee,

O Good Jesus:

“They Have Pierced My Hands and Feet,

They Have Counted All My Bones”.

Amen
