St Louis de Montfort Hymn 128: Blessed Sacrament Hymn for Sunday

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

I n the early Church, even up to the eighteen century, receiving the Blessed Sacrament daily was not common. It simply was not a possibility for most people. One of the outcomes of the present health crisis is we are unable to physically receive the Blessed Sacrament. It is a good time to ask ourselves a question. Have we taken for granted the ability to receive daily the Blessed Sacrament?

Since most of the history of the Church, daily Blessed Sacrament was not possible for most, many hymns and prayers were written about the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. de Montfort, in his Hymns of St. Louis de Montfort, actually wrote a Hymn about the Blessed Sacrament for each day of the week.

The audio below is Hymn #128: Hymn for the Blessed Sacrament for Sunday. It was recorded on the Fifth Sunday of Lent at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island.
