Q&A: Fr. de Montfort’s consecration is very appealing to me, except for one thing. How can the Blessed Mother (a creature) have the all-knowing capacity of arranging our lives?

Father Roger Charest, SMM

Is it not said in Holy Scripture: ”For he hath given his angels charge over thee. . . . In their hands they shall bear thee up; lest thou dash thy foot against a stone” (Ps. P0) ? If the angels have been given enough information about us to foresee the stones against which we can figuratively stub our toes and if God has imparted this knowledge to them because they had been designated as guardians over us, how much more knowledge about us must He have given to the Mother of all men.

When God predestines someone to a job He gives him all that is necessary for the accomplishment of that job. In heaven, Mary’s role of Universal Mediatrix, Spiritual Mother of all men makes imperative a wealth of information about the course of present and future events. Incidentally, it is clear from the accounts of Lourdes and Fatima, that Our Lady could foresee and foretell the future with more than normal accuracy. And this does not make her divine.

Why be shocked over the knowledge attributed to the Mother of God ? Have you ever tried to fathom the height of her sanctity? Meditate on the depth of her humility, the breath of charity and faith!

Editors Note: On this site, there are so many articles and Spiritual Media to understand the goodness of Mary. Consider exploring the Devotional Series to Mary (link is here).
