… But Give to God What is God’s

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

… Give to God, What is God’s

T oday’s Gospel’s focus is the Render Unto Caesar What is Caesar’s…But Give to God What is God’s.

In the Gospel, they who question Jesus are not really interested in what He says. They wish to provoke a fight, and hope to do so regardless of how He answers. This occurs even today to Catholics. So listen to the Homily, because it impacts us today in a very real way.

They who pose the question, are trying to praise Jesus first. Jesus does not answer the question first. He questions why the person is trying to trap Him. But after questioning their motives, he agrees to answer the question … His way.

Asking for a sample of the coin used in paying taxes, He asks about the image on the coin. His response is the first line above. Render Unto Caesar What is Caesar’s…But Give to God What is God’s.

How Does This Impact Us?

How does this impact us? Christians must give our due to Our Country. We must give our due to Our families. We must give our due to Our Employers. We must give our due to Our God.

We need to do all of this. We all must give our due to Our Country. That is why all Christians must vote, regardless if they are Republicans, Democrats, or something else. We must give our due to Our Country. This election day, we must all do our duty for Our Country…by voting. Regardless of how you vote, one person, or another, or don’t select either. But vote, because there are other people running also and we must vote.

After you pray on how you’ll vote, don’t do it for any other reason. Vote and give your due to Our Country and to Our God.

Listen to the homily … and Give to God What Is God’s.
