Christmas Communion (Poem)

Fr. Clifford J. Laube, SMM

CHRISTMAS COMMUNION

The heavens breathed with song that night.
A star spread mystery.
(The chapeled glow of altar-light
Is all that beckons me.)

A lamb or two the shepherds gave.
The Wise Man shared his myrrh.
(But I, a chain less Mary-slave,
Give everything to her.)

Both sage and shepherd only dared
To kneel where Jesus lay.
(But I, by Mary’s love prepared,
Can carry Him away!)
