Preparing Our Hearts for His Coming

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

Preparing Our Hearts for His Coming

W e are reminded, on the First Sunday of Advent, the color purple has a meaning.

Purple is the color of royalty. The color purple and Advent are a reminder that they are at the service for us being ready to meet the King, who has a real authority over our hearts, lives and this world. We are rousing ourselves to readiness during Advent, because the King is coming.

During Advent we lay aside the Gloria. Because the words in the Gloria are from Heaven…revealed to us on Christmas. They are laid aside during Advent, to help us purify our hearts and our spirit to truly rejoice fully at Christmas. Hear more about Preparing Our Hearts for His Coming during the Gospel and Homily on this First Sunday of Advent.
