Lingering With the Lord During the Easter Octave
Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM
L ingering with the Lord During the Easter Season
The Catholic Church celebrates Easter as an Octave: a day that is longer than 24 hours. Indeed, the Easter Octave is eight 24 hour periods. Easter is a Mystery so great and grand, it can not be contained in one single 24 hour day. It is the day the Lord has made. It is not a day of business as usual has made. It is not a day of regrets. It is the day made by the Lord. In this day, in its light and joy, we remain because we are not in a hurry to leave.
When humans experience something good, we often do not rest in it. We are in a hurry to be off to the next thing in our lives. This is not the case with Easter. It is the day the Lord has made. We must linger with the Lord. If we can not linger with Him, we can not fully appreciate nor celebrate Easter.
Find out what is and how to Linger with the Lord and enjoy…the day the Lord has made with this wonderful Gospel and Homily.
