Jesus Tells Us: Have a Humble Heart

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us to have a humble heart.

In the reading and in the Gospel, God teaches us about humility. Jesus humbled Himself so that we may be raised up as sons and daughters of God. Jesus wants us also to be humble. Hear more within the Homily.

He also teaches us a lesson. In the Gospel, Jesus talks about revealing the secrets of Heaven to the little ones, and not the learned. Who are the little ones? We hear about the characteristics of the little ones. Jesus tells us we should emulate the actions of little children. What did He mean by that? Hear more within the Homily.

In the Homily, we hear about two people on a train. We hear one is angry, then realizes she was wrong. She should have been thankful to the man on the train. Hear how this story should impact our Spiritual Journey. Listen to this Meditation Media.

Fr. Jacob Otieno, SMM,

is a Montfort Missionary priest from Kenya, graciously offers his Gospel reflections. He is currently visiting the shrines of the Company of Mary located in Connecticut and on Long Island. The Company of Mary is actively working towards establishing a shrine in Kenya and has expressed a desire to study the Marian Shrines in the United States as part of their preparations. The forthcoming shrine’s name in Kenya is Our Lady of Peace.  The second picture shows Fr. Jacob during his Homily.

Three pictures

  • In the first, Jesus humbly washes the feet of His disciples.
  • In the second, Fr. Jacob offering his reflections during the Homily.
  • In the third, Fr. Hugh and Fr. Jacob.  Fr. Jacob was given a Shrine of Our Lady special sun hat.
