Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Take note of the unmistakable emphasis in Jesus’ voice during the Gospel reading.

When the Lord speaks of the profound mysteries we commemorate today… and indeed, the sacrament we partake in during Mass… His words carry an unwavering insistence. The Lord presents a clear-cut choice before each of us: either believe in Him or do not. These are the only two options available. You can learn more about this in the Homily.

The Lord tells us that unless we partake of His flesh and blood, we will not have eternal life. During the Last Supper, Jesus instructs us about the ongoing memorial for our salvation. He says, “Do this in memory of Me!” It is not merely a request; it is a command directed at the Apostles and His Church.

Reflect upon the significance of what we celebrate on this momentous occasion and every time we attend Mass. Listen to this Meditation Media for further insights.
