Humanity Also Ascends to Heaven!
Many members of the Body of Christ fail to appreciate the immense greatness of the Ascension’s mystery.
After 40 days since Easter Sunday, we find ourselves immersed in the context of this significant day, symbolizing a triumph over death. In the Gospel, we witness the disciples grappling with doubt as they yearn to believe in and fully comprehend the Resurrection. Interestingly, the early Church acknowledged the disciples’ doubts and even considered them worthy of gratitude. It was through this doubt that the Lord provided compelling evidence of His victory. Find further insight on this matter in the Homily.
During this celebration, we not only honor the Lord’s ascent to His rightful place at the right hand of God, but we also commemorate humanity’s elevation to Heaven alongside Him. What does this signify? It signifies that humanity’s true abode is in the realm of heaven, not rooted in earthly matters. Our ultimate home lies in the heavenly realm.
The Feast of the Ascension embodies a paradox. Although the Lord departs from our physical presence, He remains with us. As the eternal God who never left heaven, He dwelled among us as a human being. His ascent to heaven does not signify His abandonment of us but rather His continuous presence. To delve deeper into this enigma, listen further to this Homily.
