The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary . . . Understanding the Real Secret of the Rosary

The  Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary has a remarkable history . . .

. . . in its connection with the Battle of Lepanto. The battle secured Europe’s Christendom on October 7, 1571. This victory was preceded by a call from the Holy Father the Pope to the entire European Church to pray the Rosary. While there was not a universal response to the call, there was a widespread response. The faithful gathered in parishes to call upon the intercession of Our Blessed Lady for the defense of the faith and the Church. Hear more about this historic event.

Originally, the feast day was called the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. It later was shifted to honor the means of the victory and was named the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. That shift was both good and bad. Hear more within the Homily.

The Rosary is a powerful prayer. But if we are not careful, it gives us the wrong starting point. The Rosary has a real power and effectiveness when we call upon the Lord, through Our Lady. The Secret of the Rosary, as St. Louis de Montfort tells us, is a secret of a different kind.

The Secret is not . . . if you want your prayers answered, use this tool. It’s really good! If you really want to understand this Feast day you have to lay aside the tendency to promote the Rosary in terms of answered prayers.

Listen to the real meaning of this feast day. Understand the real Secret of the Rosary . . . as per St. Louis de Montfort.
