The Joy During the Easter Season is a Heavenly Joy
Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM
Heavenly Joy
A lleluia is a Hebrew word, and exclaimed during Mass. Obviously, Latin also is spoken during Mass. Its curious that other languages are spoken during the Mass. Why? The real praise of God is not our natural language. We need to learn to praise God. When we truly praise the Lord, we must speak in a different way… in a different tone. We must do so using a heavenly tone. That is symbolized during Mass by using a different word, in a different language.
Likewise, the Rejoicing during the Easter Season is not just like any other earthly celebration! The Joy and Rejoicing during the Easter Season is a heavenly joy in heavenly things. What is that heavenly thing? The rising of Our Lord Jesus! This Easter Joy has such power on the earth when it is found.
The audio explores this further in terms of St. John and St. Peter. Two men, not educated, but were so powerful that sickness left many people as they cured the sick. Many were puzzled as to who these two men were who worked wonders. Something changed within these men. They became more than what they once were. These men with graced filled power and authority; they drew nothing to themselves. They did all their works in the name of another.
What did the world do when they found out these men did their works in the name of Jesus? What did they do when they recognized that these men were Christians? The world yelled at them and told them stop.
