Q&A: Is there any reason to think that Mary is especially generous in showering her graces upon someone who has consecrated oneself to her?

Father Roger Charest, SMM

There is! No. 144 of Montfort’s Treatise of True Devotion tells us that Our Lady is not to be outdone ln love and liberality. ”She also gives her whole self, and gives it in an unspeakable manner, to him who gives all to her”. In detail, this means: ”being engulfed in the abyss of her graces . . . adorned with her merits . . . supported with her power . . . illumined with her light . . . inflamed with her love . . . sharing in her humility, her faith, her purity and the rest.”

And that is as it should be. The grace of God is given to those who seek it.

”Ask,” Christ said, ”and it shall be given you.” God has made prayer, humble prayer, a necessary condition for obtaining grace.

In the consecration, the slave of love recognizes his total inability for any good without Mary’s help. He humbly begs for that help by throwing himself completely into her maternal arms.

Editors Note: On this site, there are so many articles and Spiritual Media to understand the goodness of Mary. Consider exploring the Devotional Series to Mary (link is here).

. . . Our Lady is not to be outdone ln love and liberality.
